Trying something new!!!

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Well, I figured it was about time to figure out how to “blog” since I always complain about Kerry not doing it and I have never taken the time to learn how to. So, this evening after Kerry got home from work and picking up Conner from daycare, we sat together for a lesson in blogging. Here is a side note: do not ask my husband to teach you anything – he is too smart for his own good and does not have the patience to teach, especially someone like me that doesn’t have a degree in computer science like he does! Anyway, continuing on…I guess I will give a brief synopsis of our lives for those who have been following us or recently started.

Kerry and I met each other at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Georgia in the Fall of 1999 and dated all throughout college. He graduated in 2003 and I did in 2004. He proposed to me in February of 2005 and we were married at The Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 1, 2005! We had alot of fun, however; we had to come back to our lives here in Chattanooga, TN. I work as a residential lighting consultant for The Lighting Gallery and Kerry works as a computer programmer for Williams Web. I gave birth to our first son, Cameron Ross, on August 17, 2006 and our second son, Conner Reid, on October 15, 2008. Our lives have been enriched beyond belief with the addition of our boys. Anyway, I will cut this post short and post some pictures. Hopefully, I will be able to keep up with this and keep everyone updated with our lives.

A Brush with Gold

Friday, August 15th, 2008

It’s not every day we get to brush elbows with champions.  I was (un)fortunate enough to do just that recently.

When my server went down a few days ago I was very frustrated.  It really cramped my day as I could not get past the deluge of emails screaming for me to bring my site back up flooding my inbox.  I mean I must have gotten one I think.  Anyways, little did these people know that an olympic champion was in our midst.

You see Nastia Liukin is also a happy Dreamhost customer.  When she won a gold medal earlier this week, her site received an influx of visitors.  As you know, what goes up, must trample something else down.  That something was my poor pitiful, overloaded, underpowered, dreamhost server.  It just couldn’t bear the load.  I was extremely frustrated, until I read who the culprit was.  That made me stick out my chest, and hold my head high; swelled with national pride.

Did I just use a semi-colon?  I hope it was appropriate!010a

My patriotic feelings quickly subsided as my server went down yet again!   The natives are really getting restless.

Oh well, at least i can say I helped win an olympic medal.  Somehow.  According to my feeble, egotistical mind.

Windows Live Writer

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

I recently stumbled upon the neatest tool for bloggers, Windows Live Writer.  I had read about it about a year ago and thought nothing of it.  It is basically a desktop application which lets you post to your blog.  Doesn’t sound like much but it also handles image uploads, post metadata, gives you a preview of it on your site, and has a wysiwyg editor.  You can also edit your existing posts, add effects to your images, manage your categories.  In addition to this, it also has an open api so I expect to see some slick plugins coming out soon.  I highly recommend bloggers download it and give it a shot.  It is free, easy to install and setup, and works with most popular blog software.  Kudos to Microsoft for this free and useful piece of software!  When it’s as easy as this, I have no excuses for not posting.
