Not Me Monday!

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This is the first attempt at joining in “Not me!” Monday…so here it goes!

I did not let my sick 2 year old eat whatever he wanted, knowing that he would throw it up within an hour, but to avoid a fight I didn’t do it.

I did not proceed to throw the puked on laundry directly into the washing machine and expect it to work some sort of miracle on the stains, without pretreating them.

I did not feel like the worst parent in the world when the 2 year old escaped out of the backyard with the dog and trotted down the street. Only to be stopped by the neighbors, who called the cops!

I did not try to bribe my 2 year old to go potty with a present!

I did not ignore the dishes in the sink all weekend. Nope not me!

I did not wish that I could ignore my crying 3 month old and wonder when he is going to start sleeping through the night.

I certainly did not hope that my sleeping husband would get up and take care of the crying baby.

I did not wish that my husband would get a new job that he interviewed for last week so that we would have move into another house in a new town, no way was I wishing for that!

Please join in and check out MckMama’s site. It’s lots of fun!

My sick little Cam man!

You wouldn’t believe how sad it is to watch your normally active (which is putting it mildly) 2 &1/2 year old lay around for the last couple of days sick! Cameron is a wild and crazy kid – constantly talking and asking questions, wanting to play outside, and wanting Mommy and Daddy to play with him. Well, since Wednesday the poor little guy just wants to be held and cuddled (totally not things Cameron likes to do at this age)! He’s been tired and groggy and unable to hold down much of anything (which makes me wonder whether or not it was a good idea to let him eat Cool Ranch Doritos, Daddy?) Anyway, here’s a picture of the little man when I got home from work after lunch to take over for Kerry so that he could go to work for a little bit!

The green blanket pictured is Cameron’s favorite – if he is tired he pops his thumb in his mouth and goes to sleep – it’s like magic. I just hope he starts to feel better soon.

The Darndest Things

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

I believe it was Bill Cosby who coined the phrase, “Kids say the darndest things”.  Well, Kristin and I have realized this to be true as Cameron is starting to become very verbal.  A few of our favorites.

The color of money – With our (and everyone else’s) IRA’s in the tank lately, I am glad Cameron is already thinking green (money, that is).  If you ask him what color anything is, it’s green.  Cameron, What color is Elmo?  green.  What color is the sky?  green.  However, this is advantageous while boasting of his smarts in front of others.  Just ask him what color something green is.  Works every time.  However, astute individuals may notice you always ask him what color a green item is.

Love of the sport – Cameron has got to be the best football fan ever.  He cannot bother himself with rooting for an individual team or player.  He stands in front of the TV and proudly exclaims, “Yay, football!” when anything happens.  He just likes to see the sport do well.  This is fine except when he is rooting for a team that just scored on Tennessee.  Then he is scolded immediately.

The third person – Like the Rock, Cameron always references himself in the third person.  This may be a common thing among toddlers as me or mine is a whole different concept than every object having a label.  Anyways, I thought it was funny recently when I was tickling him by biting on his ribs, and he said, “No Daddy, Don’t bite Cameron!”.

These are probably not as funny to some people as they are to us, I know I have sat through many “guess what my kid does” talks.  But, I thought some of the parents reading might appreciate it.  Let’s hear of your funny stories.

A Day at the Park

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I can’t decide if the guilt from dropping Cameron off at the daycare is worth the joy of picking him up.  Today he was out in the hall and saw me from a long way away and got up and ran all the way down the hall with his arms out saying, Daddy! Daddy!  If that doesn’t put a smile on your face, then nothing will.  Just what you need after a long day at work.

So, I decided to take him to the park afterwards.  He is a brave little booger, and goes up and down every slide and apparatus on this park.  It’s a little scary for us.  At two he is easily navigating all the playground equipment (except the monkey bars), he can even swing on the swing by himself!
